MESSAGE BOARD CLOSED!!! This message board has been closed because certain people seem unable to use it properly! I am fed up with the continual gripes from anonymous contributors who only seem able to criticise or make snide comments regarding the integrity of other clubs. The Executive Committee and I are always willing to explain what is going on and more than happy to listen to any suggestions as to how we might make things better, but, in spite of all our contact details being available on the site, hardly anyone picks up the phone if they have a question or criticism. For the information of those who are interested, the situation regarding Bobbing Court's final points tally - and Macknade's subsequent relegation - arose because 2 results were misreported. With over 30 results being reported every week (many of them late!) we have to rely on the fact that the team reporting the result has got it right when we compile the tables. I would also like to point out that it is the responsibility of every team to ensure they have all the points to which they believe they are entitled - if you have a query ASK!!! Bobbing Court were very fortunate in that someone realised they had made a mistake when they reported a result and this also brought to light the other error. The additional 2 points meant that Bobbing Court finished 1 point above Macknade. Unfortunate for Macknade, but, as another anonymous contributor pointed, out we are all human and mistakes happen. Another recurring gripe is that there are occasions when the website does not get updated for a week or two. I update the site in my own time and even though it may come as surprise to some, I do have a job, a family and a life to get on with as well as being league Chairman. For your information, we are working on having a more automated result service for next season - as I would have told anyone who took the trouble to ask!! The plan is that the new result service will mean that the League tables are generated without manual intervention and will therefore be up to date at all times. As I have mentioned before, the Executive Committee and I are all volunteers - we give up our time to see that the League runs as smoothly as possible. We are all up for re-election at the AGM so if you think you can do a better job tell your club rep to put your name forward. You may think I/we do a crap job and you are entitled to your opinion, but at least have the decency and courage to tell me so to my face!!! Tim Munday |
